David Crockett Autobiography

Postby Stephen Hopewell on Fri Jul 25, 2008 10:26 pm

Crockett's autobiography is highly amusing, a quick read, and very telling about early 19th century life. Its style is said to be the type of narrative used by Mark Twain. It's available online at:

If that doesn't work just do a keyword search "david crockett life" at the University of Michigan library:

Note that only the first 17 chapters comprise the "authentic" autobiography.

I have posted excerpts on my July 17 and July 25 blog entries at heritageamerican (wordpress).

The available paperback version of this is A Narrative of the Life of David Crockett, by Himself.
